Following twenty-two years of distinguished editorial stewardship, Med Glas (Zenica) enters a new chapter with the appointment of a new Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, and Research Integrity Editor — reaffirming the journal's commitment to rigorous peer review, editorial integrity, and international biomedical scholarship.
Med Glas (Zenica) is entering a new editorial phase with a renewed focus on transparent editorial processes, high-quality peer review, responsible research practices, and timely communication with authors and reviewers. The new leadership brings together extensive clinical, academic, and scientific, and research expertise.

New Editorial Leadership
Hakija Bečulić, M.D., Ph.D.
Editor-in-Chief
Dr. Hakija Bečulić is a specialist in neurosurgery and skull base surgery, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Cantonal Hospital Zenica, and Associate Professor of Anatomy at the School of Medicine, University of Zenica. His academic and clinical work spans neurosurgery, spine surgery, neuro-oncology, and medical education. He is the author and co-author of more than 110 scientific and professional papers, books, and book chapters, and brings long-standing experience in editorial work and academic mentorship.
Emir Begagić, M.D.
Deputy Editor-in-Chief
Dr. Emir Begagić works at the Department of Neurosurgery, Cantonal Hospital Zenica. He has authored and co-authored more than 80 scientific and professional publications in neurosurgery and related fields, including neuro-oncology and neuropathology. He serves as Editor at Biomolecules and Biomedicine and completed a specialisation programme in statistics at Johns Hopkins University.
Anis Cerovac, M.D., Ph.D.
Research Integrity Editor
Dr. Anis Cerovac is a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics at Tešanj General Hospital, with academic appointments at the University of Tuzla, University of Bihać, and University of Zenica. He holds a Ph.D. in medical sciences with a focus on gynecologic oncology. He is the author and co-author of more than 110 scientific papers spanning obstetrics, gynecology, perinatology, reproductive medicine, and research ethics.
The new editorial team will continue to support the publication of clinically and scientifically relevant biomedical research, maintaining the standards of peer review and research integrity that Med Glas (Zenica) has upheld for more than two decades.
